PEMERKASAAN KEMAHIRAN HIDUP MELALUI INOVASI TERNAKAN TILAPIA SECARA LESTARI BAGI PELAJAR PENDIDIKAN KHAS SMK MACHANG BUBOK

Pada 19 September 2022 telah berlangsung perasmian projek ternakan ikan tilapia secara lestari oleh Ketua Penolong Pengarah Kanan, Sektor Pendidikan Khas, Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Pulau Pinang, Ahmad Kamal bin Abdul Ghani dengan pelepasan sebanyak 300 ekor benih ikan tilapia.

Projek ini merupakan inisiatif oleh Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) melalui Pusat Pengajian Pendidikan Jarak Jauh (PPPJJ) dengan kerjasama Institut Penyelidikan Perikanan (FRI), NGO PENCINTA dan SMK Machang Bubok dalam usaha membantu para pelajar pendidikan khas untuk berdaya saing dalam mencipta pekerjaan selepas tamat belajar.

 Terdahulu, dua siri bengkel telah dijalankan iatu latihan teori dan praktikal penternakan tilapia kepada guru-guru dan pelajar Pendidikan Khas SMk Machang Bubok. Sebanyak tiga kolam khas telah disediakan dan diuruskan oleh 10 pelajar Pendidikan Khas dengan dibantu dan dikawal selia guru-guru.

Projek ini menggunakan geran Jaringan Industri dan Masyarakat berjumlah RM9,000.

THE CATFISH PROJECT

The grant started from 4 October 2021 - 3 October 2022 with the amount of RM19,000.00. The project started with the purchase of four fish tanks in addition to the existing of two fish tanks. The Department of Fisheries has contributed 8,000 catfish seeds. This project has provided an opportunity for the lecturers to share knowledge, help generate income for madrasah and provide employment opportunities to the villagers (two of them). This project will also be able to help madrasah students to generate their income after completing their studies. Catfish have been sold to individuals who come to study at the madrasah, villagers, restaurants and fish traders. The demand for catfish is so encouraging that the madrasah cannot meet the market needs of the local consumption. Thus, the madrasah is planning to buy more fish tanks in order to meet the need of their customers.
